  1. What is the ECS Student Project Innovation Expo 2024 Showcase?

    The ECS Student Project Innovation Expo 2024 Showcase is an event that provides an opportunity for student teams to exhibit their projects to the ECS community, faculty, and visitors. It allows teams to present their work, engage with attendees, and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of innovation at the Expo.
  2. Who can participate in the Showcase?

    The Showcase is open to all ECS undergraduate student teams that are registered for the event. Teams from various engineering and computer science disciplines are encouraged to participate.
  3. Are posters required for the Showcase?

    Yes, teams participating in the Showcase are required to prepare posters that visually represent their projects. Posters serve as visual aids during presentations and help convey the significance of the projects to attendees.
  4. How can I get posters printed for the Showcase?

    Teams are responsible for printing their posters. It is recommended to work with the respective department or utilize printing services available on campus.
  5. Is there a poster template that I should use?

    Yes, teams are required to use the official ECS Expo poster template for their presentations. You can download the template from the following link: ECS Expo Poster Template
  6. What is the recommended poster size?

    The recommended poster size for the Showcase is 48 inches in width by 36 inches in height. This size allows for optimal visibility and presentation of project details.
  7. What is the required format for the posters?

    Posters for the Showcase must be printed on foam board. Roll-up type posters are not permitted. The foam board provides stability and durability for the posters during the Showcase.
  8. How much time do I have to prepare my poster?

    Teams are encouraged to start preparing their posters as soon as possible. It is advisable to allow at least one week for poster preparation and printing. Please plan accordingly to ensure that your posters are ready for presentation at the event.
  9. What is the setup time for the Showcase?

    Setup time for the Showcase is from 7:00 am to 8:30 am on the day of the event. Teams are required to set up their posters and displays during this time. Please note that setup must be completed by 8:30 am.
  10. Do I need to stay with my poster during setup time?

    Yes, at least one team member should remain with the poster during setup time to ensure that everything is properly arranged. However, please refrain from leaving any valuables unattended during this period.
  11. Is there a break between setup and the start of the Showcase?

    There's a short break (9:00 am - 11:00 am) between the setup time (7:00 am - 8:30 am) and the start of the showcase (11:00 am). During the break time, teams participating in the competition will remain, while those not involved in the competition will be kindly asked to leave the showcase floor once their setup is complete. All teams are welcome to return to the showcase floor at 11:00 am when the showcase officially begins.
  12. Can I leave my belongings at my Showcase booth during the break?

    While teams can leave their posters and displays at their assigned booths during the break, it is advisable not to leave any valuables unattended. Please take necessary precautions to secure your belongings during this time.
  13. How long does the Showcase last?

    The Showcase typically runs from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. This allows attendees, including fellow students, faculty, industry professionals, and community members, to visit the booths, interact with the teams, and learn about the projects on display.
  14. Are graduate students allowed to participate in the Showcase?

    No, participation in the Showcase is limited to undergraduate students only. Graduate students are not eligible to participate.
  15. What is the dress code for the Showcase?

    The recommended dress code for the Showcase is business or business-casual attire. Participants are encouraged to dress professionally to present themselves and their projects in a polished manner.
  16. Do corporate-sponsored project teams need approval from their industry mentors regarding the content for posters?

    Corporate-sponsored project teams should discuss the contents of their posters with their industry mentors to ensure compliance with any restrictions that may apply.
  17. Is there an opportunity for networking with industry professionals or potential employers during the Showcase?

    Yes, the Showcase provides an excellent networking opportunity for students to interact with industry professionals, potential employers, and alumni who may visit the event.
  18. Are there any restrictions on the content or subject matter of the projects presented at the Showcase?

    While there are no specific restrictions, teams are encouraged to ensure that their projects align with the ethical standards and guidelines of their respective fields.
  19. Can teams receive feedback on their projects during the Showcase?

    Yes, attendees, including faculty members and industry professionals, may provide constructive feedback and insights to teams during the Showcase, offering valuable perspectives for improvement.
  20. Will there be any photography or media coverage during the Showcase?

    Photography and media coverage may be present at the event to document the projects and highlight the achievements of participating teams. Students who prefer not to be photographed can inform event organizers.
  21. Can teams bring additional materials or prototypes to accompany their posters?

    Yes, teams are encouraged to bring supplementary materials or prototypes that enhance their presentations and provide additional insights into their projects.
