Asset Tagging
All IT type state-funded computer equipment are required to be received and disposed of properly and approved by the AMO committee for disposal. AMO office site
All IT purchased or department purchased user devices (Laptop, Desktop, Printers, Tablets, cameras, iPad, and mobile phone) are required to be inventoried into the IT service-now data base and be accessible by AMO office for audit purposes.
Items that require an asset tag:
Monitors, Printers, Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, TVs, Mobile Devices, Cameras, scanners, and Network Gear
Disposition
Department purchased equipment will need to be assess by the departments local tech to make sure the items are properly wiped/reset (clear out any personal data). If the item(s) are no longer useful they can be disposed, if item(s) are still useful then item(s) can be redeployed. If being disposed of then the hard drive must be removed and disposed of separately to speed up the process using the e-data sanitation form.
Use form and drop off drives to IT rollout and the devices can be dropped off to IT Asset Management. We are located next to each other in the library basement.
All retired IT type items will follow the AMO office procedures are to be Disposed by Asset Management department.
Ensure the items are properly wiped/reset/unlocked (clear out any personal data). Helpdesk/rollout to change the status of the items in our data base from installed to retired or instock (depending if item(s) are still usable or not. If retired then the items can delivered to asset management department PLS-082. If the item(s) are still usable then rollout may keep items for redeployment or brought back to IT asset management to be placed back into available stock.
Purchasing / Receiving
- IT Purchase Authorization - Required
- Asset tagging - All IT type items must be asset tagged
- ( Monitors, Printers, Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, TVs, Mobile Devices, Cameras, scanners, and Network Gear)
- Adding to CMDB - All IT type items that are asset tagged must be entered into the service-now data base for asset tracking.
Reporting Lost/Stolen/Broken Equipment
What should I do?
Log on to service now self service and fill the "report lost stolen form".

Contact the IT Helpdesk immediately by calling (657) 278-7777. Additionally, if your device is lost or stolen we ask that you fill out a loss form and a police report in the event of a theft.
Disposition
- Item is beyond repair and/or Aged out
- Items can be dropped off to IT asset management on Tuesdays and Fridays during the regular business hours.
- For large quantaties of items 10+ - email datacenter-req@fullerton.edu to create a ticket and we will coordinate the drop-off/pickup
Who pays for the loss?
All clients issued an iPad or laptop must sign an end user protocol sheet.
In
section I
. of that sheet it states that:
“It is the faculty/staff member’s responsibility to take appropriate precautions to prevent damage to or loss/theft of his or her iPad/laptop. CSUF/IT will not repair or replace this iPad/laptop unless the cost of repair/replacement is paid by either the Department or the individual user.”
