What are the features of the Office 365 Outlook Email?

Your email account has 45 GB of storage, it is accessible from any internet browser, and it is accessible through the Microsoft Outlook app on mobile devices and desktop computers.

What is my student email address?

Your student email address is username@csu.fullerton.edu where username is your Portal username.

Can I change my email username?

If you are a currently enrolled students, you can submit a username change request by emailing the Student IT Help Desk: StudentITHelpDesk@fullerton.edu

Note: Usernames can only be changed once per year.

Will I be able to forward my student email to another email address?

No, your student email cannot be forwarded to a personal email accounts due to the campus' security policy and to prevent spam and phishing scandals. 

Can I use my personal email account as my preferred email account for all campus communication?

No, you cannot change your preferred email (username@csu.fullerton.edu) to a personal email account.  Your student email is the only email that will be used for all campus communication as per the campus' security policy and to prevent spam and phishing scandals. 

Can I still access my student email through SMTP/IMAP/POP?

To secure CSUF email accounts from being compromised legacy protocols such as SMTP/IMAP/POP have been turned off. You will need to use a mail client that supports Microsoft Exchange Active Sync and uses modern forms of authentication. Microsoft Outlook is the supported and recommended client for this.

Can I access my email directly from Outlook.com instead of going through the Portal?

Yes you can.  For the username make sure you enter your full campus email address i..e @csu.fullerton.edu.  You will then be redirected to the CSUF Student Authenticate login screen where you will need to re-enter your username & password.

Why do I need to use Duo 2FA to access my email?

DuoTwo-Factor Authentication (2FA) will be required when logging in to applications which require Microsoft login. This is to expand the use of Duo security to other applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.

Why do my emails have the [External] tag and caution banner?

To provide an additional level of cybersecurity, CSUF has implemented [External] email tags and banners to help users identify email origins.

  • Emails received from outside our campus email system will have a cautionary orange banner and "[External]" in the subject line.
  • Emails received from external campus partners are identified with a cautionary blue banner and “[CSUF external service]”

The External email tags and banners was added to emails to help users identify potential phishing and improve security, thus it cannot be removed.

Why am I getting emails from Proofpoint and what are the Spam Protection Daily Report emails?

These emails are from the  IT Help Desk identifiying suspected spam messages sent to your campus email account.

I received a supicious/phishing/spam email, what should I do?

You can report a suspicious email directly from your email inbox.

We advise that you do not click on any links in the email. You can simply delete the email and change your password if you would like to do so as an added security measure.

No further action would be needed.

What will happen to my student email account when I graduate?

For students who graduate 2008 or later, your Titan Apps email account will stay active*. Graduates from prior years are not eligible for an email account. 
You may check your email by logging into the CSUF Portal or directly from Outlook.com.  If accessed from Outlook.com, for the username make sure you enter your full campus email address i.e. @csu.fullerton.edu.  You will then be redirected to the CSUF Student Authentication login screen where you will need to re-enter your username & password.
