COACHE Faculty Satisfaction Survey

Thank you for participating!

We want to thank the faculty who participated in the COACHE survey, a research-practice partnership and network, including implementing the faculty job satisfaction survey at Cal State Fullerton. The survey is an evidence-based, rigorously tested, and validated survey that is designed specifically for faculty.

Why Is It Important?

  • We want to understand faculty experience so we can retain and recruit high-quality faculty  (University Strategic Plan Goal No. 3)Opens in new window .
  • Longitudinal information is important to identify job description trends over the years.
  • Reliable data is important for revising policy or creating practices to improve faculty experiences.
  • Having specific information about faculty experience is part of understanding overall campus climate.

How Will We Use the Data?

The survey is specifically designed to generate data for action, to inform policy and resource planning and to identify areas of improvement. Dissemination of survey results is a critical component of the COACHE network framework, including dissemination of summary reports to the university community.  To that end, we will disseminate broadly in Fall 2022. Stay tuned!

How will you maintain confidentiality?

The Office of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness (OAIE) will receive disaggregated data from COACHE. In consultation with the campus community, only aggregated summary data will be shared. Disaggregated data will be shared to the extent that anonymity of respondents can be maintained. In general, data cells with less than 10 responses will not be reported.

Will the survey include part-time faculty?

The COACHE survey is designed to assess the needs of full-time faculty specifically. Part-time faculty are critical to our institution and a separate, comparable, methodologically sound, and rigorously validated survey instrument is warranted to understand their needs. At present, COACHE does not have such a survey for part-time faculty. Although, we are informed that there one such survey in the works. Should that option become available in the future, it can be considered as part of the university’s comprehensive climate survey strategy. As part of that strategy, there is a forthcoming survey that will be administered to all constituent groups, including part-time faculty and employees. That survey will assess the broader climate of inclusion.
