Pre-Retirement

Editor’s note: This information is based on a Retirement 101 brochure that was prepared by our colleagues Bob Belloli, Jim Friel and Sandy Sutphen. We extend our thanks to them.

Planning for retirement should begin well before the date that you expect to retire. There are many issues to consider when contemplating retirement. These may include financial considerations, health care considerations, whether you plan to remain where you currently are living or plan to move, the possibility that you may need long-term care at some future date, and most importantly, what you plan to do in retirement.

The links on the left take you to more detailed discussions of these issues. The California State University Emeritus and Retired Faculty and Staff website opens in a new window has some excellent pre-retirement planning information.
