IT Connects - Matt Badal

Sticking to our music theme for week 7! Matt Badal would like to share a song that inspired him and also brings back good memories!

“In 5th grade I got to sign up to learn to play an instrument for the first time. Without hesitation I knew I wanted to learn to play saxophone because of the song Take Five. I used to hear this song playing around the house and the  saxophone part was always something I thought sounded so cool. I did some research in preparation to share this song (mainly Wikipedia) and actually found out it is the biggest-selling jazz single ever. The song was composed by Paul Desmond and originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, who are shown in the video playing live.

“I also have to give a special shout out to JP, Vita, and Allison for playing an awesome rendition of this song at Mr. Badal’s retirement party! It’s his favorite song, which is probably why I remember hearing it in elementary school. Hope you all enjoy listening and are staying safe!”
