Visiting the DSC/Zzyzx
Only the Lake Tuendae interpretive trail, operated by Mojave National Preserve, is open to the public. All other grounds and structures are off-limits without reservations. The DSC is a satellite campus of the California State University system.
The DSC is an active research and education campus 365 days a year. Please respect the students, staff, and residents by remaining only on the interpretive trail and observing CSU and Mojave National Preserve regulations. Want a closer look? Things to do at Zzyzx
Everyone is welcome to visit the Lake Tuendae interpretive trail, a short ADA-accessible trail with information about the unique natural history and human history of Soda Springs. Lake Tuendae is an excellent place to spot wildlife.
Except for the interpretive trail, all of the grounds and structures of the DSC are closed to the public.
Open hours
Zzyzx Road, the visitor lot, and Lake Tuendae are open from dawn until dusk.
Amenities
The NPS visitor lot has a pit toilet. There is no drinking water available on site.
Restrictions
- No drones
- No camping at NPS lot or anywhere along Zzyzx Rd
- No off-road driving
- No commercial photography
-No pets, except licensed service dogs
