Fieldwork Instructions

 

PREREQUISITES FOR FIELDWORK

All prerequisites must be completed prior to enrolling in fieldwork courses.

HUSR 201 - Introduction to Human Services 

AND

HUSR 380 - Theories and Techniques of Counseling OR HUSR 310 - Case Management

 

THREE FIELDWORK COURSES ARE REQUIRED

Each fieldwork seminar is a two-unit course with a co-requisite of the corresponding one-unit of fieldwork. Students may enroll in only one fieldwork course per semester. The seminar course and fieldwork must be taken concurrently. Enrollment in more than 1 such course in a single semester is not permitted.

Fieldwork courses must be completed in the following sequence:

HUSR 396 (3 units)
HUSR 495 (3 units)
HUSR 496 (3 units)

 

THE APPROVED AGENCY DIRECTORY

You can view the Approved Agency Directory online or visit the Fieldwork Office in EC-479. We have hard copies for your review.

Submit your e-Fieldwork Placement Form electronically at least three weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. No hard copies will be accepted. Go to the Approved Agency Directory link and follow the instructions. All students must submit a form online each semester regardless if you have interned there previously.

 

PETITIONING AN AGENCY

Effective Spring 2018: Petitioning a site that is NOT listed in the approved agency directory is no longer permitted. Students must refer to the above link for The Approved Agency Directory. This is updated each academic year to ensure agency information is accurate. If by any means a site cannot be secured using the directory, any exceptions need to be approved by the Department Chair.
