CSUF Returning Students

Impaction

Cal State Fullerton is impacted by campus and major. Impaction means that there are more qualified applicants than can be admitted. Meeting the minimum California State University (CSU) requirements does not guarantee admission to CSUF. Admission is competitive, therefore supplemental criteria may be used. As an impacted campus, most CSUF majors do not accept second bachelor's applicants. Currently, the only major open to second bachelor's applicants is Nursing.

Major impaction

The following majors have supplemental admission requirements:

Criminal Justice

Applicants that have completed the equivalent of Criminal Justice 100 (CRJU100) with a C- or better, or an ADT in Administration of Justice will receive priority admission preference. Applicants without CRJU100 or an ADT in Administration of Justice will be placed on the wait list and considered for admission pending space availability.

Dance

Admission to the Dance major is based on the performance of a successful live dance audition. For more details on the Dance major admission process.

Music

Theatre

Local Admission Area

Due to campus impaction, a local area is defined. CSUF has defined the local admission area as all community colleges in Orange County. Students who attended more than one institution will be classified based on where the majority of their units were completed. Priority admission preference will be given to local area transfers for all majors.

  2. Official Transcript: Mailed to Cal State Fullerton, Office of Admissions, PO Box 6900, Fullerton, CA 92834-6900

For deadlines on verification of your degree in-progress or awarded by term, view Admission Deadlines.

How will my Associate Degree for Transfer be used in determining admission eligibility?

Student must meet the GPA cutoff for the term. Cal State Fullerton is impacted at the local level as well as major impacted. Thus, under current CSU guidelines, the student will receive a 0.1 GPA bump. The ‘calculated GPA’ will be applied to the major specific minimum GPA and to any GPA used in the ranking of applicants.

How will my Associate Degree for Transfer be used in determining my graduation requirements?

Students who have completed an approved Associate Degree for Transfer program deemed 'similar' to their Cal State Fullerton major are eligible to graduate in 60 units.

Please Note: 60 unit graduation option will not be possible if the student changes majors or elects to add any additional degree objective, such as a second major or minor.

What will happen if I change my major after I applied for admission or while I enrolled at CSUF?

If you change your major to a major not related to your ADT, we cannot guarantee that you will graduate within 60 semester units. Cal State Fullerton will notify you by mail if we find you have canceled your ADT agreement.

How many TSP agreements can a student have?

A student can only have one TSP agreement. They cannot enroll in multiple agreements with campuses. The system will not allow a student to enroll in more than one. Campus officials will review if a student attempts to enroll in more than one program.

If a student enters an agreement with another CSU, can they change the agreement at a later date?

A student can request to be removed from an agreement. If they wish to change to another campus or program, they must submit a request for release and allow time for the campus to review.

The filing period for a student to submit an agreement is from August 1st-September 30th.

If a student requests to be released from their original agreement, they can elect to do an agreement with another campus or program provided it is within the filing period for an agreement.

If a student is deemed to be ineligible for the TSP program, can they try to do an agreement with another school?

No. Once a student is deemed ineligible by any campus, they will not be able to enter into any agreement with any CSU campus.

Students that are not eligible for TSP will still be able to utilize the CSU Transfer Planner.
