M.S. Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission to the master's program are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field from an accredited college or university
- M.S. Chemistry students have generally completed:
- General Chemistry plus lab (1 year)
- Organic Chemistry plus lab (1 year)
- Quantitative Analysis (Analytical Chemistry) plus lab (1 year)
- Physical Chemistry (1 year).
- Students in the biochemistry concentration typically have completed at least 1 semester of biochemistry.
- M.S. Chemistry students have generally completed:
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.75
- Science GPA of 2.75 or better in chemistry and/or biochemistry classes
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is required for all applicants with an undergraduate degree from a university or college outside the United States.
- TOEFL, Test of English as a Foreign Language - All graduate applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose native language is not English and/or whose preparatory education was completed in a foreign country (even if instruction was in English) must demonstrate competence in English. Applicants that possess a bachelor’s degree from a postsecondary institution outside the United states must take one of the English language exams: TOEFL, IELTS or PTS. - Official transcripts of undergraduate study - Foreign language transcripts must be accompanied by certified English translations. Official transcripts should be sent to the Office of Admissions

- Because there can be delays having the official transcript sent, received, and processed, we strongly encourage applicants to get this process started early.
- Three professional letters of recommendation.
