Grant Programs
Grants are free sources of educational funding for students. Grants do not require repayment, unless the student withdraws from courses. Awards vary based on your eligibility, this includes your expected family contribution (EFC), enrollment status, grade level, number of attempted units, and other factors.
Grant Programs available to CSUF Students
CAL GRANTS
Funded by the State of California & administered by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC)
Cal Grant A
- Eligibility for the Entitlement and Competitive grants is based on academic achievement and financial need. The grant is applied toward registration fees but may not cover full fees.
- CSUF Award Maximum: $5,742
Cal Grant B
- Entitlement and Competitive grants consist of a subsistence allowance and, for renewal recipients, an award for registration fees. Eligibility is based on demonstration of substantial financial need.
- CSUF Award Maximum: Subsistence, $1,672; Fees, $5,742
Limits: There is a limit to the number of years you can receive funding. You can check your status on WebGrants for Students
to determine your time frame.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Grant
Funded by the State of California & the California State University
- A state funded program for undergraduate students with financial need who have been admitted to CSUF through the EOP Program. Eligible students must be California residents.
- CSUF Annual Award Maximum: $800

Federal Pell Grant
Funded by the United States Federal Government & administered by the U.S. Department of Education
- A federal funded program that is the foundation of financial aid to undergraduates who demonstrate need. Students who demonstrate need must be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens.
- Your academic year award amount is determined from your expected family (EFC) that was calculated from your FAFSA.
- Federal Pell Grant disbursements (i.e. payments) are based enrolled units at CSU Fullerton. Awards will be prorated if student is enrolled in less then full-time (under 12 units). In some instances a student enrolled in less than 12 units may lose eligibility for his/her Pell Grant, as SAI’s in the higher end of the Pell range do not allow for less than full-time awards.
- Limits: Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) apply, students are limited to a total of six full-time years, or 600.00%, of Pell Grant eligibility. More information can be found under the Eligibility tab.
- CSUF 2024-2025 Award Maximum is $7,395 and the Minimum is $740.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Funded by the United States Federal Government & administered by the U.S. Department of Education
- Available to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. Funding is limited and awarding priority is given to Pell Grant recipients.

Middle Class Scholarship (MCS)
Funded by the State of California & administered by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC)
- A program that provides undergraduate students with family incomes up to $150,000 and a maximum annual household asset amount of $150,000, with funding assistance for tuition.
- CSUF Annual Awards: Based on family income, student's may be eligible for a scholarship of up to 20 percent of the mandatory system-wide tuition and fees.

State University Grant (SUG)
Funded by the State of California & administered by the California State University
- Designed to pay the either part-time or full-time state tuition fees based on unit enrollment. Students must be California residents and must demonstrate need. Must be enrolled in at least 6 units to receive a SUG payment. Funding is limited and students who file financial aid applications after the March 2 priority deadline may not be offered a SUG award.
- Limits: Undergraduate students have a limit of 150 earned units, if transferred limited to 75 earned units. Credential students are limited to 30 earned units. Graduate students cannot exceed 125% earned units required for their program.
- CSUF Annual Awards for full-time students: $5,742 for undergraduates; $6,660 for teaching credential candidates and $7,176 for graduate students.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant
Funded by the United States Federal Government & administered by the U.S. Department of Education. The TEACH Grant is a federal grant program, providing up to $4,000 a year to students who commit to teaching full-time for at least four years in a specific high-need subject at a qualifying elementary or secondary schools that serve students from low-income families. The teaching obligation must be met within eight years of completing the course of study associated with the TEACH Grant.
