The Biomechanics Laboratory is dedicated to the study of the kinematics and kinetics of human movement, including both clinical and sports applications within Kinesiology. The Biomechanics Laboratory includes an open data collection space (40x40x40) with adequate dimensions for studying a wide variety of activities. The lab's research equipment encompasses a full array of modern biomechanics tools, including:
- a 9-camera, optical, 3D motion capture/analysis system,
- two force platforms with multiple mounting configurations,
- a 16-channel tethered electromyography system,
- a 6-channel telemetry electromyography system,
- a plantar pressure measurement system,
- a golf putting system,
- a portable indoor-outdoor ball-flight and launch monitor,
- a high speed video camera (1000 hz)
- computers and software for data collection and analysis.
Both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a variety of kinesiology courses use the lab for demonstrations and for required projects that include data collection and analysis of selected movements.
