Meet the Staff

Kevin Martin was appointed as the Director of Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation in the Division of Student Affairs at Cal State Fullerton in April 2024. With over a decade of experience in higher education, Kevin leads efforts in university outreach, recruitment, campus tours, yield events, and orientation programs.

Bringing over 25 years of leadership and management experience, Kevin is skilled in human resource management, training and development, logistics, operations, process improvement, and project management.

His career began in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in both enlisted and officer ranks across various locations. Transitioning to higher education, Kevin started as an Adjunct Faculty member in Justice Studies, which paved the way for his role in strategic enrollment management at Grand Canyon University. There, he focused on growing enrollment and mentoring students in the Honors College.

He also served as the Program Manager for Graduate Programs at Arizona State University, where he developed processes for over 20 graduate programs, including budgeting and hiring. Later, as Assistant Director in the Office of Admissions, he led regional and military recruitment efforts while mentoring students through the Mentor Network.

Kevin holds a Master of Administration with an Emphasis in Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Columbia College. He is Lean Six Sigma certified and a Certified Professional with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP).

Christin Johnson is a double Cal State Fullerton Alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Higher Education. She currently serves as the Associate Director for Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation, where she oversees daily operations for the department, supervising staff and coordinating planning and execution for orientation, tours, and outreach programming, while also driving ongoing improvements. 

When asked what she loves about her work, Christin states, “I love that our department helps students access higher education through providing resources and services. Building relationships with students, their families, campus partners, and community members is also something I genuinely enjoy. I find it rewarding to assist students in their transition to college and I also enjoy leading and supporting our team.” 

A fun fact about Christin is that she loves horses and the beach.

JC Elamparo serves as the Assistant Director for Outreach, Recruitment, and Orientation where he oversees logistics and operations. He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in World Cultures and History from University of California, Merced and a Master of Business Administration from Trident University. JC loves talking to prospective students about their goals and dreams and is a minority-owner of an NFL team.

Vince Cardenas is one of three Assistant Directors for College Access and Transitions, where he serves as a liaison for the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Health and Human Development, and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. In addition, Vince leads the Events Unit, which facilitates large-scale events that bring the campus community together. As the Event Unit Lead, he oversees the planning and execution of impactful programs designed to inspire and connect students, staff, and faculty while ensuring a seamless and memorable experience.

Vince received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Arizona State University and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University. When asked what he loves most about his position, Vince shares, “I love this work because I have the opportunity to collaborate with campus to provide a seamless transition for students as they explore, apply to, and enroll at CSUF.”

Outside of work, Vince enjoys nurturing plants and visiting the Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Cal State Fullerton.

Julianne Vartanian is one of three Assistant Directors for College Access and Transitions, where she serves as a liaison for the College of the Arts, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Undeclared and Academic Advising Center. She also serves as a lead for New Student Orientation and Parent and Supporter Orientation. 

She is a double CSU alumni from Fresno State University, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling with an option in Student Affairs and College Counseling. 

When asked what she loves about her work, Julianne states, “As a previous first-generation student myself, I am aware of how important it is to have support as you prepare for your college journey, and being a part of a department that provides that support for many of our Future Titans is incredibly rewarding.” Julianne is a huge Disneyland fan and her favorite rides are Big Thunder Mountain and Radiator Spring Racer.

Noel Quiñones is one of three Assistant Directors for College Access and Transitions, where he serves as a liaison for the College of Business and Economics, the College of Communications, and the College of Education. Noel serves as a lead for Campus Tours and Visit Programs, Marketing and Communications, and Assessment and Evaluation for the department.

Noel received his Associate of Arts in Communication Studies from Riverside City College, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication Studies from Cal State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership, specializing in Community College Leadership.

When asked what he loves about his work, he states, “I love that I have the opportunity to contribute to the department’s work of connecting with thousands of prospective students who are looking for guidance and support when transitioning to Cal State Fullerton.” Noel enjoys country music, sports, and hanging out with his family.

Britney Lynch is a Senior Outreach and Recruitment Counselor. She is a CSU system alumni, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Cal State University, Lost Angeles. When asked what she loves about her job, she states, “I love being able to inspire and motivate students to take on the next stage in their life.” She loves to travel and hopes to visit all 7 Wonders of the World.

Rose serves as a Senior Outreach and Recruitment Counselor where she has a specific focus on high school recruitment in LA, San Bernardino, and Riverside County. Rose is a double-alumni from Cal State Fullerton where she received two bachelor's degrees in Communication Studies and Asian American Studies, and her Master of Arts in Communication Studies. When asked what she loves about her work, she states, “I love being able to travel and support students, especially those who identify as first-gen. As a first-gen myself, I want to fill in those gaps of knowledge and be someone I wish I had when I was transitioning into higher education.

Jorge Contreras is an Outreach and Recruitment Counselor and is an alumnus of Cal State Fullerton, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Jorge joined the team with a history of connecting with our Native American population and currently specializes in Native American recruitment for our department. When asked what he loves most about his work, he states, “I love the people I work with but I really love motivating to consider higher and guiding the through the process.” Jorge loves to dance, fire spin, and make others laugh. I love that this work allows me to foster genuine connections with amazing individuals, and take part (even if it's small) in someone's journey toward their own success and joy. A fun fact about Jorge is that he is one of 9 siblings!

Nate is an Outreach and Recruitment Counselor and attended Biola University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. He partners with high school and community college staff and students to provide informational resources and to help students begin their journey here with us at CSUF. He partners with a majority of schools in the Corona, Riverside, and Fullerton areas.

Jeanette Monzon is an Outreach and Recruitment Counselor and is a CSU system alumni. At CSU Channel Islands, she earned 3 degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Bachelor of Arts in Chicano Studies, and a Master of Education with an emphasis in Educational Leadership. When asked what she loves most about her work, she states, “I love guiding students to find their best path in higher education.” A fun fact about Jeanette is that her picture was used on over 200,000 debit cards in California.

Sam is an Outreach and Recruitment Counselor and has a Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Barbara where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Education. She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Southern California. When asked what she loves about her work, she states, “I love interacting with students and playing a role in their college journeys. She loves all things fantasy, especially books and shows!

Emily Taketa serves as the Senior Orientation Coordinator where she leads efforts in New Student Orientation, the NODA Internship Program, assessment, marketing, and online orientation. Emily received her Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership, Policy, and Foundations from the University of Washington. 

When asked about what she loves about her work, she states, “Orientation can be one of the most significant life transitions for a student and their support network, and it is really a privilege to share in that excitement. I love knowing that our programs have the opportunity to set students up for success so that they not only fall in love with CSUF, but also prosper for their entire Titan Experience!”. 

A fun fact about Emily is that she once high-fived WWE Legend John Cena.

Hailey Bruder serves as the Orientation Coordinator and provides support and guidance to our Orientation Leaders. She is CSU alumni, and received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Cal Poly Pomona. Additionally, she has a Master’s of Arts Students Affairs in Higher Education from Miami of Ohio. She loves welcoming new students to Cal State Fullerton and has a love for tattoos!

Danielle Van Dalsem serves as the Campus Tours Coordinator where she leads campus visitation services for prospective students and their guests and family members. She is a CSU alumni, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning at San Francisco State University.

When asked what she loves about her work, she states, “I love being able to showcase this incredible campus and all the features, programs and services CSUF offers through our tours program, I also love working with our team of student staff!” A fun fact about Danielle is that she is also a student here at Cal State Fullerton, where she is pursuing her Master’s of Science in Higher Education. 

Jeremy Reyes serves as the Marketing and Communications Analyst where he is responsible for the department's IT processes and all email communications to prospective and admitted Cal State Fullerton students. He received his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and he is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Higher Education at Cal State Fullerton. A fun fact about Jeremy is that he enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering with friends.

Alyssa Duran serves as the Department Coordinator for the department and oversees all administrative processes in ORO. She is the department DITC, payroll liaison, and aids the department with monthly budgeting. She is a Cal State Fullerton alum with a bachelor of arts in business administration with a concentration in legal studies. When asked what she loves about work, she states, “I love being a person of support and resource for others. Seeing students and staff thrive keeps me going!”. A fun fact about Alyssa is that she skipped the 5th grade.

Jessica Cocciolone serves as the Event Planner, where she coordinates and executes all aspects of university-wide, department events to serve prospective and incoming students and families, and community and campus partners. In coordination with the marketing and communication analyst, the event specialist plans and implements marketing and promotional initiatives to engage prospective and incoming students and visitors and encourage event attendance. 

She received her bachelor of arts in Anthropology with an emphasis in Cultural Studies. When asked what she loves about her work, she states, “ I love the idea that I have the unique opportunity to bring students, faculty, staff, campus guests, community and campus partners, and vendors together with the united goal to educate, empower, and provide meaningful events that encourage engagement, belonging, and inclusivity.” Jessica loves motorcycles and grew up on the back of a Harley riding around the San Francisco Bay Area. Her favorite places to visit on the bike are Napa Valley and the Santa Cruz mountains.
