Its almost time for graduation!

We hope the semester has been one of active learning and growth.  If you're graduating this semester a huge congratulations to you and a round of applause for your accomplishment.  Make sure that you finish your grad check, and get over to the books store for cap / gown and grad accessories.  Wishing you and your family a happy graduation!

If you're still working on your degree keep up the good work, eventually it will be your time to graduate and earn your degree.

It's all going to work

The first step in making anything is that you have to believe it will work, even when it doesn't.  If you can at least keep it in your mind what you want to achieve then you still have hope.  

If you only knew how many times a page is refreshed or how many variations go into building some of our tools.  You'd realize that we don't always get it right the first time.  There are thousands of refreshes, and probably just as many times we throw our hands up.  

At the end of the day, its all about walking away, clearing your head, and coming back to the work with a fresh perspective.

A few days later

Just writing a new entry in the blog after a few days have gone by.  We want to see that this story shows up at the top and that the preview text shows up.

Remember that blogs aren't built in a day, they are a way to communicate information over time.  Its better to get people to come back rather than having all your content right there to begin with.

It should be used effectively.  Don't hide critical information because you want to keep people coming back.  Your website is about getting answers not creating drama by holding stuff back.

And another blog post

So what makes a good blog post?  Well that kind of depends on what you are using the blog for.  Is this an interview with someone, is it a stream of conciousness, or are you using it to document your process?  Depending on the use will depend on how much and what kind of content you are using.

Fancy images, tags, categories: do you need them?

That also depends greatly on what your content is about.  Are you doing a blog post to show off a collection of items? Giving using the choice to sort through your content is great, especially if you have a lot of it.  

Do you need images? It might very well be all about the images.  A blog about a insect collection, travel destinations, or just simply showing supporting pictures can help.  Is this a review of a service or a destination experience?  Show pictures, write the details, and let users learn more about what happened.

Okay then pictures it is - or...wait no maybe more.

Remember that not everyone who visits your blog will "see" it in the same light.  If you are using pictures great, but don't forget to give good context.  For people who can't visually see your photos they still care and want to learn about the content too.  Make certain that your posts are accessible for everyone who would want to read them.
