Endowment Funds

The Emeriti Association maintains scholarship endowment funds for Emeriti Memorial Scholarships, the Guardian Scholars Program and the Russell and Betty L. Benson Emeriti Scholarship as well as a library endowment fund.

We encourage donations from members and friends to our Emeriti Memorial Scholarship Fund and our Library Endowment.

Scholarship Funds

The Emeriti Memorial Scholarship Fund was initiated by Gertrude Reith during her association presidency in 1987. There are currently three scholarships supported by the Emeriti Association.

Emeriti Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships are open to full-time, upper-division and graduate students from any major. Each year, one Emeriti Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student and one to a graduate student.

Guardian Scholars Program

The Guardian Scholars program supports students who are leaving the foster care system and have met university admission requirements.

Russell V. Benson and Betty L. Benson Emeriti Scholarship Fund

For undergraduate and graduate Mathematics students, this fund was created in 2014 as part of a gift to the university from Professor Benson’s estate.

Annual donations from our members and gifts from deceased emeriti’s family and friends are the endowment’s principal sources. Our bylaws stipulate that awards are given each year from the interest generated on the account. As the endowments grow, so too does the interest that can be used to increase the dollar amount of the awards given each year and/or increase the number of scholarships that are available.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Admission to Cal State Fullerton
  • Scholastic achievement

Library Fund

In February 1998, the CSUF Emeriti Association officially established the Emeriti Library Endowment Fund. At the direction of the Executive Committee, income from this account is used to help build collections in CSUF’s Pollak Library. We urge all emeriti, as well as others from the university community, to support this fund.

We encourage donations from members and friends to our Emeriti Memorial Scholarship Fund and our Library Endowment.
