Info Blocks: Dynamic Content

Media Layouts

What is a media layout?  Its just an image with text over or around it; however, its actually a mix of a couple of things.  We revamped images with text into various layouts.

It's important in the setup or page properties to make sure that the info block content type is "dynamic".  Each item can have an image, multiple links, and multiple lines of content.  There's no one way to do these, so have fun, just remember less is more.

If you have a ton of content, make sure you present it in a way that people can read it easily.

Data Entry

Media layouts differ from old slideshows in that they now allow much greater amounts of content to be related to images.  This can include several hyperlinks, buttons, and paragrahs of text rather than relying on the two or three lines at the bottom of the image.

Although there are several different types of media layout displays it all comes down to image vs content.  The first image that is found inside the editor will be used as the major image for the info block record.  There is no mandate that is gonig to be made when this shows up in your content, but best practices would say image first and then all other content.  This will make it easier for future editors to make changes to the content.

For greater detail on how to set up a media layout check out our media layout guide in the CMS section of this site.

    • medium
    • large
  • no-collection

Media Layout Presenation

The major display options are configured inside the info block dynamic content interface panel.  Unlike some of the other types of dynamic content the display controls are driven from the interface set up configuration and not by adding a CSS class to the section where it is displayed.

You can add multiple files to your info block, but the first file will dictate the configuration for all items within.  Consult your team / content coordinator to come up with the best approach for your pages.
