Selection Process
The School of Nursing will begin reviewing applications after the application deadline. During the initial application review the Graduate Nursing Advisor looks for degree and prerequisite course completion and works in partnership with the University Admissions department to calculate an official GPA. If the application meets the minimum requirements in these areas, the Women's Health Care Concentration lead will review the complete application including recommendations.
Interviews are offered to the top qualified applicants. Applicants selected for interview will need to be available to come to the CSUF campus to complete the interview with the Women's Health Care concentration Lead. Interviews are generally completed in groups. Interviewees have the opportunity to ask any questions they have about the program during the interview and have the option to meet with the Graduate Nursing Advisor after the interview if desired.
Well qualified applicants will have the following:
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Well written answers to the application questions that demonstrate high level writing and critical thinking skills as well as strong desire and capability to pursue graduate study and strong commitment to the Women's Health Care field.
- Recommendations that address an applicant's nursing skills, contributions to place of employment or education, dedication to the nursing field, specifically women's health care, and to lifelong learning.
- If applying for the nurse-midwifery/WHNP emphasis, at least one year of work experience in L&D
