In the Classroom

Teaching for diversity, equity, and inclusion is crucial in establishing a foundation for students to become civically engaged citizens who create a society that recognizes the contributions of all people. Below are summaries of some of CSUF’s initiatives to support DEI in the classroom.

Expanding the equity pedagogy module

The Equitable Pedagogy Module (EPM 1 & EPM 2), an online asynchronous two-part course in equity-minded teaching to improve student success outcomes. More than 1,200 faculty have completed the course since its launch in Fall 2021, and as a result, we have reredoubled our efforts and investment in increasing our collecteive awareness, learning, and implementation of equity-minded approaches to teaching.

EPM2 will focus on anti-racist teaching, specifically addressing anti-Blackness. Similar to the first iteration of EPM, the expansion will be designed by CSUF faculty.

Support for One Book, One CSUF

One Book, One CSUF is a program in which members of the CSUF community choose a book that explores themes of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Each year, the Division of Academic Affairs partners with Human Resources, Diversity, and Inclusion to support efforts to augment the program in the classroom by awarding incentive grants. Faculty use these funds to incorporate activities related to the year's book selection.
