BIOGRAPHY

Growing up in East Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley, Dr. Walsh was first in her family to attend and graduate from college—University of Southern California. She was A.B.D. in the 1970’s when recruited to lead a research team in the County of Orange. After retiring from a 20 year career in county government, Eileen earned a PhD at U.S.C. in 2005 with a dissertation on families formed across the color line. She teaches a few courses a year with the majority of her time as Department Chair (2014—2020) or Chair of the Academic Senate (AY 2022—AY 2024). Her interests are program development, student retention and success for Black students.
