Probationary faculty members are normally given a two-year initial appointment and are subject to evaluation before they are reappointed to subsequent probationary years or granted tenure. Tenure-track faculty are considered probationary faculty until they are awarded tenure or terminated.
Each tenured faculty member shall be subject to a periodic evaluation under these procedures at least once every five years. A Performance Review for promotion shall be considered to be such a periodic evaluation in calculating the five-year intervals.
Faculty Affairs and Records oversees the evaluation of Full-time Lecturers. In 2024-2025, candidates and reviewers will use Interfolio’s Review, Promotion & Tenure platform for these evaluations.
Part-time Lecturer evaluations are primarily overseen by the Department and/or College, and any questions regarding evaluation should be directed to them first. The period and type of review undergone by the Faculty Member is determined by the lecturer's length of employment and contract type.
A range elevation is an evaluation separate from any scheduled periodic evaluation for Lecturers and does not replace any scheduled evaluation. If the faculty member is already scheduled for a performance evaluation, a second WPAF will need to be submitted through Interfolio.
This review is considered to be a full-review, and like full-reviews in the tenure-track process, this review is cumuluative. The Review Period for the documentation you will need to submit as part of this review is from the day after you submitted your RTP portfolio for Tenure & Promotion to Associate Professor through the current submission deadline.
