The First Content Section

Scrolling down on the page a user should easily be able to identify one area on the page from another.  Its not a chaotic mess of information just bombarding the page.

Review

Remember that a website is like any living object, if you don't take care of it things will start to go bad.

Make sure that you are reviewing your content, updating and removing things that help keep your users coming back and informed.

Reach

You can't meet everyone all the time, but your website can.  The best way to have people see your pages is to make sure your content is organized for searching.

Good use of headers, page titles, and concsise content makes all the difference when search engines crawl your content.  Fresher is better so updated content will show up first.

The next area of content

this box uses a different background color to help users feel like they have started a new area on the page.  This content still relates to the main website but this is something that might be completely differnt from the previous items above.  Cleans the palet and allows the user to feel like they are able to focus on what you've got written here.

Adding Some Space

The box wrapping around this area has a "half" setting which means it will be at least half the height of the end users screen.  This ensures that we have space around our content without hiding things below.

Color Draws Attention

The use of color can be a powerful tool when designing your pages.  Make sure its not overwhelming to your design.

A little difference usually does the trick to bring users to a space.  Too much and its confusing where you are supposed to be focusing.

Grid layouts

The updated system for making pages in V5 allows us to use grids instead of floats.  This will help content on rows stay inline and easier to read.

Are we there yet?

While the end of that page is important if you feel like the content here is something that shouldn't be missed you can lead users to this by placing markers above, or using a design that allows the content at this point on the page to really stand out.  Less is more when it comes to discoverability.  We want people to see topics, ideas, and important content easily.  This can be done by using well formed headers, making links into buttons, and providing good space around important information so it doesn't get lost in the crowd.

Different box, or is it?

The concept of having a box in your page editing is great.  It helps keep you better organized and if you need to make changes to your content then there's a smaller impact on your overall page; however, the end user may not need to know one box from another.  Just because you have the ability to make each box a different image or color doesn't mean each page needs to be striped or too busy.

This is when less really is more for your readers.
