Create an Info Block

Media layouts, applications, directories, galleries, and microblogs are here with info blocks!  You can make a major impact on your site by creating eye-catching visuals, as well as creating dynamic content that will make it easier for your users to find what they are looking for while minimizing the number of pages on your website.

Creating a New Info-Block

Make sure you are in the location you want your info block to be.  Info-blocks are reusable content, meaning you can create one and share it on any page in any location in your website.  However, it is best practice to either save all of your info blocks in one location (i.e. the _shared folder included in your site), or within the folder where you plan to use it.

  1. Select the New button on the top right corner in Omni.
  2. Select Info-Blocks from the selection options.

  1. You can give your info-block a title, but info-blocks are just content that get added to other pages, so the title will not be seen by anyone except for editors in the properties view.
  2. Under Used As, select the type of info-block you are creating. The options are:
    1. Regular Content - This is any regular text, images, accordions, etc., that can be added, a layout created within the info-block, and placed in a page, or on many pages.
    2. Dynamic Content - This includes media layouts, microblogs, application data, and directories.  This is content that is added and labeled so that the output can be done dynamically, making it robust and searchable.
    3. Image Gallery - This allows you to add images as wel as any text and/or links.  Image galleries comes with several CSS styles and will create a nice layout with your images, allowing users to click the image for a larger view and to see any additional content with the image.

  1. Give your file a file name.  We suggest finding a naming convention for your info-blocks that makes sense to you so that you can quickly tell the difference between an info-block file and a regular html page.

i.e. We use ib-staff-directory.pcf for an info block that is set ups as "dynamic content > directory" that we will use as a staff directory.

File names should be lower case letters, numbers, and dashes (hyphens) only!  Please do nto use underscores.
