Dr. Phillip Gedalanga is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Science at California State University, Fullerton. He earned his PhD in Environmental Health Science and Policy from the University of California, Irvine and was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles. His graduate and postdoctoral training established predictive links between microbial populations and water treatment outcomes. Currently, Dr. Gedalanga is investigating the response of microbial communities to emerging water contaminants and other pollutants to determine the greater impacts to environmental health. His teaching and research interests primarily focus on the interactions within ecosystems that balance health risk, ecological function, and environmental policy.
